Mystic Paso Fino Ranch is owned by Jackie and
Ron Decker. Jackie has spent over 40 years with horses, starting
with quarter horses and thoroughbreds and meeting her first Paso
Fino in 1990. Her husband, Ron, learned to ride on a quarter horse,
but then asked her to find him a ‘no bounce’ model.
After trying out many gaited breeds, they rode their first Paso
Fino and became hooked for life. The Paso Fino is majestic, smooth
to ride and eager to please you. They make their
rider look and feel just as proud and beautiful. Jackie and Ron
went to their first Pat Parelli clinic in 1990 and discovered the
power of training horses using natural horsemanship. The combination
of Paso Finos and natural horsemanship was irresistible and so
was the desire to share this discovery with others.
Since then, we have been breeding, raising, training, leasing and
selling Paso Fino horses at Mystic Paso Fino Ranch. We also board
and train horses of all breeds for others and provide horsemanship lessons
using natural horsemanship. Jose Rodriguez, our ranch hand, helps
care for and exercise the horses.
About the Ranch
Mystic Paso Fino Ranch is located in a small peaceful valley in White City, Oregon, between Grants Pass and Medford, about two miles from the Rogue River and surrounded by beautiful hills and wildlife. We teach horses the basics of natural horsemanship games in the round pen, then move on to the arena and ranch trail course, where they develop confidence and agility before taking them out on miles of wooded trails. This approach to training creates trusting, respectful and reliable equine partners. The ranch is bordered by a quiet, decomposed granite country lane that provides great riding, whatever the weather. The region’s trails offer beautiful views of the Rogue Valley and Mount McLoughlin, quiet meadows, wooded glens and wild life galore for spring, summer and fall riding.
Our horses run in a herd, giving them a rich social life and allowing them to learn how to interact safely with other horses and to accept the deer, elk and wild turkeys that pass through the pasture.
